Years of violence and destruction in Syria has shattered millions of peoples lives. Women ,girls and even men have particularly faced the brutality of the crisis.

Syria Relief & Development’s empowerment program responds to the protection needs of Syrian women and girls through many community training & empowerment centers and mobile protection services. The centers have become a central hub for women interested in education, training, and psychosocial support.

The Bokra Ahla  Center is located in the town of Aaqrabâte, which has a population of 8,000 indigenous people and 10,000 displaced people. The town is close to many camps because it is central to Atma, Qah, Deir Hassan and Kafr Lusin. 

The center provides its services through 6 mobile protection cars, and has a staff of 50 employees, including specialists in psychosocial, violence, and child protection support.

The Community Center in Aqrabat provides the following services free of charge from eight in the morning until two in the afternoon through six days a week except for the weekend on Friday:

  • Inclusive Community Center for all age groups, including women, men and children.
  • Individual psychological Support through Problem Management Plus (PM+) approach
  • Empowering women from the displaced and host community through group recreational activities and other type of activities.
  • Empowering men from the displaced and host community through group recreational activities and other type of activities
  • Case management and psychosocial support services.
  • Protection activities for children and persons with disabilities.
  • Vocational and life skills courses for men, women and children.
  • Providing reproductive health services for mothers who participate in center activities.
  • Create community committees to raise community awareness about gender-based violence, children's rights, and special child protection issues
  • Day care of children of mothers and fathers who participate in center activities.
  • Recreational kits distribution for children who attend the structured psychological support sessions
  • Distributing kits to develop early childhood skills for children whom participating in early childhood development activitie
  • Transportation is provided, especially for special cases.
