Infection, Prevention, and Control (IPC)

The program works to provide capacity building for all COVID-19 and non-COVID-19-related IPC measures. This includes field supervision and on-the-job coaching, identifying healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), and strengthening Medical Waste Management Systems.

(IPC) Program OBJECTIVES:

  • To develop guidelines for IPC, prevention, surveillance, and practice.
  • To establish and strengthen IPC program management capacity at piloted health facilities.
  • To harmonize initial and continuing training IPC programs for healthcare professionals.
  • To support health facilities in developing their action plans to reduce the risk of hospital-acquired infections (HAI) and thus reduce the morbidity and mortality related to HAI.
  • To develop a surveillance system to monitor selected infections and assess the effectiveness of intervention.
  • To establish a monitoring mechanism of health facility-associated infections with feedback to providers 6 Monitor.
  • To facilitate access to products essential for hygiene and safety.
