Duties & Responsibilities:
The Field Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating field operations, ensuring effective implementation of projects, managing field staff, and maintaining strong relationships with local communities and stakeholders. The Field Manager will ensure that SRD’s programs are delivered efficiently and align with the organization’s goals and values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Implementation and Management:
- Oversee the implementation of field projects, ensuring they are completed on time, and scope.
- Coordinate with project teams in developing and maintaining project work plans and schedules.
- Coordinate with project teams to ensure smooth execution of activities.
- Monitor project progress and provide regular reports to the Country Director.
- Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and support field staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
- Facilitate training and capacity-building initiatives for field staff.
- Stakeholder Coordination:
- Maintain strong relationships with local communities, authorities, and other NGOs.
- Represent SRD in meetings with stakeholders and coordinate with them to ensure project alignment and support.
- Address any issues or conflicts that arise with stakeholders in a timely and effective manner.
- Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Supervise monitoring and evaluation plans to assess project impact and outcomes.
- Review the detailed reports on project activities, outcomes, and challenges.
- Logistics and Administration:
- Oversee logistical arrangements for project activities, including procurement, transportation, and accommodation.
- Ensure compliance with SRD’s policies and procedures, including financial management and reporting.
- Manage field office operations, including budgeting and resource allocation.
- Risk Management:
- Identify and assess potential risks to project implementation and develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure the safety and security of field staff and assets.
- Keep abreast of the security situation in the field and update contingency plans as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., International Development, Project Management, Social Sciences). An MBA is preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in field management, preferably with an NGO in a conflict or post-conflict setting.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in project management and M&E methodologies.
- Ability to work under pressure and in challenging environments.
- Fluency in Arabic and English (both written and spoken). Knowledge of the Turkish language is an asset.

- Working Conditions:
- The position is based in Syria, with frequent travel to project sites.

- The Field Manager must be prepared to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as necessary.
