Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF)
SRD’s Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) Program is dedicated to enhancing child health and development by promoting optimal feeding practices among caregivers. Using a community-based approach, SRD integrates essential health and nutrition services to educate and support families in nurturing their infants and young children for adequate growth, development, and overall well-being. The program emphasizes the importance of breastfeeding, a culturally accepted practice that provides vital nutrients and strengthens infants’ immunity, laying a strong foundation for lifelong health.
Our IYCF services include tailored counseling sessions for mothers and caregivers, covering key topics such as exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months, safe complementary feeding practices, and the benefits of continued breastfeeding alongside nutritious foods up to two years and beyond. Community health workers play a critical role in delivering these services, conducting regular follow-ups and providing on-the-ground support to address challenges such as breastfeeding difficulties or limited access to diverse foods. SRD is committed to scaling up IYCF initiatives, especially in crisis-affected areas, where the risks of malnutrition and poor health are heightened. By empowering caregivers with knowledge and resources, SRD’s IYCF Program supports healthier, more resilient families and communities.
