Integrated Management Childhood Illnesses (IMCI)
SRD’s Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses (IMCI) program is dedicated to improving healthcare outcomes for newborns and children up to five years of age. Our program is built on a holistic, evidence-based approach that strengthens pediatric care across primary and secondary health facilities, ensuring the delivery of comprehensive and continuous services. Through IMCI, we aim to reduce child mortality, morbidity, and enhance child well-being by addressing the major causes of illness and death in this age group, including respiratory infections, diarrhea, malaria, and malnutrition.
The IMCI strategy combines health promotion, preventive care, early diagnosis, and appropriate treatment protocols tailored for common childhood illnesses. We work closely with healthcare providers to enhance their diagnostic skills, treatment protocols, and counseling abilities, equipping them to better support both the child and their family. By integrating community and facility-based services, our approach strengthens early intervention efforts and extends essential health services into remote and underserved communities. With a focus on capacity-building and a multi-level health system strengthening approach, SRD’s IMCI program contributes significantly to fostering resilient health systems that prioritize child health as a foundation for community wellness.
